TGT 2022 / Role of Captains

Preamble

The purpose of this document is to clarify the role of Captains.

The Thales Golf Trophy is a team competition.

The organizers of the 2021 edition reaffirm this notion and want to strengthen the team spirit that should result from it, three decisions have been taken for this purpose:

1. Retain 5 cards out of 6 max in order to make all players responsible for their team's result (stableford game formula)

2. Divide the teams into 4 team series according to the average index of each team, and make a gross and net ranking in each of these 4 team series; this to allow each team to compete within its series to an attainable objective (since the maximum difference between teams in the same series will be less than 5 index points). The TGT champion in gross and that in net will be the team having obtained the best result in all series.

3. When awarding prizes, give preference to team rewards over individual rewards.

These choices imply that the role of team captains is strengthened and that captains must fully play this role, which is above all a role of manager, leader.

Line-up

The Captain must participate in the composition of the team while respecting the eligibility conditions defined by the organizers as well as the conditions and objectives set by his own Sports Association.

Preparation for the competition

Prior to the competition the captain must:

1. -Ensure the compliance of the registration of his team (name, index, license number ...)

2. Set goals for your team and possibly for each team member

3. Develop team spirit within your team (collective vs. individualistic behavior)

4. Raise awareness, motivate and empower all team members to achieve these team objectives.

5. Plan if possible and / or necessary specific preparation (training, courses, awareness, individual goals ...)

6. Know the rules governing this competition and comply with them.

Course of the competition

The captain must:

1. participate in the Captains' meeting scheduled for Tuesday, September 14, 2021 in the late afternoon.

2. Inform team members of the points presented at the Captains meeting

3. be the preferred interlocutor with the organizers on all sporting aspects

4. Loop back with your teammates after each round on the results obtained and the improvements to be made.

5. Represent the team at the awards ceremony.

After the competition

The captain must take stock with his teammates on the achievement of objectives.
